What Happens When Different Parts of Your Brain are Affected by Brain Injury or Stroke?

Constant Therapy | Traumatic brain injury, Stroke

We’re often asked about the connection between Constant Therapy’s tasks and an individual’s specific brain injury. In response, we’ve developed an infographic poster for people with communication disorders or brain injury, their loved ones, and the clinicians helping them to reach their therapy goals.

This free resource can help you with multiple things:

  1. See the regions of the brain and their functions. This is always changing as we learn more about the brain, but the Know Your Brain guide provides a visual overview of each region of the brain and what its job is.
  2. Find the connections between YOUR specific injury and things that are challenging for you. Do you know that you had a stroke that affected Broca’s area?  You’ll be able to see just how that translates to the difficulties you may have with finding the words you want.
  3. Figure out what therapy activities are most useful for you given your individual condition. There’s a great table on the back side of the infographic that shows you what Constant Therapy tasks are most useful for you given your specific injury, condition, and/or strengths and weaknesses.
  4. Start the conversation. Whether you’re a clinician explaining an injury to a patient and their loved ones, or whether you’re a patient explaining why it’s hard for you to read to a friend, this graphic gives you a tool to talk about your injury, to explain it to others, and to ask follow-up questions with medical professionals!
