Chromebooks and Constant Therapy: a winning combination!

We are thrilled to announce that Constant Therapy is now available on Chromebooks! Not heard of a Chromebook before? Not sure how to get started with Constant Therapy using a Chromebook? Well, you have come to the right place – read on to learn all about this cost-effective, versatile device and how to use it to complete your speech, language, and cognitive exercises anytime, anywhere!

What is the advantage of a Chromebook?

If you have not heard of a Chromebook, you are not alone! Chromebooks are a low-cost, easy-to-use alternative to traditional laptops. More advantages include:

  • Chromebooks are a great option if you have trouble seeing smaller screens, such smartphones or tablets
  • With Chromebooks you can easily angle it to whatever works best for you and your individual vision
  • These straightforward devices make it easy to browse the Internet and edit documents
  • Chromebooks are less susceptible to hackers

Chromebooks use the Google apps you may be familiar with, especially if you use Chrome to browse the Internet on another computer. Chromebooks usually have a trackpad mouse and a keyboard, and some even have a touchscreen. A variety of computer manufacturers make them, including brands like HP, Dell, Lenovo, or Samsung. You can buy them online from places like Amazon, or from stores like Walmart or Best Buy.

Which Chromebooks work with Constant Therapy?

Chromebooks range quite a bit in price, but for the purposes of using Constant Therapy, you generally do not need a terribly fancy one. To run Constant Therapy on a Chromebook, you need a Chromebook built after 2019. If you have a Chromebook that was made before 2019, you can check this list to see if your Chromebook might support Android apps. You can also search on your Chromebook to see if you can find and open the Google Play store. Generally speaking, you are able to open the Google Play store on your Chromebook, you will be able to download Android apps like Constant Therapy from the Google Play store!

I have my Chromebook ready to go! What’s next?

First, you need to get the Constant Therapy app onto your Chromebook. Here’s how:

1. Open the Google Play store on your Chromebook. You are looking for this icon.

2. Once in the Google Play store, Search for Constant Therapy in the search bar.

3. Tap “Install” next to the white Constant Therapy app with a pink bar below it, and once it’s done installing, click “Open.”

How to get started with Constant Therapy

If you already have a Constant Therapy account that you created on our website, that your clinician gave you, or that you have used on other devices, you can go ahead and log in with your username and password. If you have not created an account yet, you can do that right from the app! The app will guide you through the steps to create your own, customized exercise plan based on your goals and individual profile.

FUN FACT: Did you know that you can use Constant Therapy on multiple devices? The app will pick up right where you left off on your old device. You can only be logged in on one device at a time though, so the app will automatically log you out of any other devices when you log in on a new device. If you forget your password, no worries! Top 2 tips for using Constant Therapy on your Chromebook

1. Pin Constant Therapy to your start button (it’s super easy to do). That way it will always be there when you need it. At the bottom of your screen, find the “CT” icon. Press the “ALT” key, which is on the bottom left of your keyboard, and then tap the Constant Therapy icon. Then click “Pin” and you’re ready to go!

2. Try not to let your device drop below 20% power. Running apps like Constant Therapy takes power, so if you see your battery power running low, plug your Chromebook in – it will charge while you continue to use it! If your battery drops below a certain point, you may find that some features within the app will not work as expected.
